This agreement does not cover record searches conducted by this office for National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 compliance or other federal environment review. Staff at this office will review information on the NWIC's maps and in its files and databases based on a project description and a boundary defined and submitted to the NWIC by the Agency. Due to processing delays and other factors, not all of the historical resource reports and resource records that have been submitted to the California Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) are available via this records search. Additional information may be available through the federal, state, and local agencies that produced or paid for historical resource management work in the search area. Additionally, Native American tribes have historical resource information not in the CHRIS Inventory, and the Agency should contact the California Native American Heritage Commission for information on locallregional tribal contacts. The OHP contracts with the CHRIS regional Information Centers (ICs) to maintain information in the CHRIS inventory and make it available to local, state, and federal agencies, cultural resource professionals, Native American tribes, researchers, and the public. Recommendations made by IC coordinators or their staff regarding the interpretation and application of this information are advisory only. Such recommendations do not necessarily represent the evaluation or opinion of the State Historic Preservation Officer in carrying out the OHP's regulatory authority under federal and state law. The Project Review response letter will present a summary of current historical resource and report data for the project area; provide an evaluation of the potential for unknown cultural resources; and give project -specific next -step recommendations. Archaeological resources are nonrenewable and often easily damaged. In order to prevent destruction, vandalism, and artifact hunting, and to protect landowners from trespass by people seeking access to archaeological sites, the Agency agrees to keep the locations of archaeological resources confidential by insuring that they will not be included in reports or files available to the general public. In addition, the Agency agrees that access by Agency personnel to this information should be on a need -to -know basis. This agreement will be in effect until December 31, 2021. Each project will be reviewed and invoiced at the rate of $75.00 per project. The review will be conducted within seven business days and the results will be conveyed to the Agency in letter format via email unless otherwise requested at the time Northwest Information Center SAN FRANCISCO Sonoma State [ niversity SAN MA SANTA CI1 ATA A 1541'rofessional Center Drive, Suite L• SANIACRUZ ftohneri Park, California 94928W9 SOLANO Tel: 707.588.8455 SONO\TA nww-sonorna edu YOi O http:,',,wtvw.sonorna.edu/nwic MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT City of Ukiah Project Review Program Sonoma State University for the Northwest Information Center (KWIC) of the California Historical Resources Information System (CHRIS) agrees to assist the City of Ukiah "Agency" in fulfilling a portion of its regulatory obligation in regard to cultural resources, as related to the preparation of an Initial Study, as per 14 CCR § 15063.
