HomeMy WebLinkAbout82-38RESOLUTION NO. 82-38 1 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 13 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH PLACING MEASURE ON BALLOT FOR THE REGULAR STATEWIDE ELECTION A~ REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION WHEREAS, State law authorizes the City of Ukiah to place measures on the ballot, to call a special election therefore and to request consolidation of this election with the regular statewide election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1) The City Council of the City of Ukiah does hereby request that said election be consolidated with the regular statewide election. 2) The City Council designates that the following measures shall be submitted to a vote of the voters of the city. The voters at the regular 14 election shall vote upon the following measure: "Shall the City of Ukiah be authorized to assist with other State and/or public bodies in the development, construction or acquisition of not more than 100 units of housing for the elderly, disabled, handicapped and for other iow income families, pursuant to Article XXXIV of the California State Constitution?" 15 3) The aforesaid ordinance shall not become effective unless and 16 ~until a majority of the voters vote in favor of it. 17 18 19 2O 4) The County Clerk shall give the appropriate notices of the election and shall conduct the election pursuant to the appropriate pro- vision of state law. Pursuant to Elections Code section 22003, the City shall reimburse the County in full for the services performed upon pre- sentation of a bill to the City. 5) The County Clerk shall conduct the election on said measure and shall provide the following services: a) Establishing precinct boundaries. b) Provide precinct and election officers and designate 26 polling places. 27 28 1 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 c) Notify election officers of their appointment and instruct inspectors concerning thier duties. d) Hire and pay election officers. e) Arrange for the availability of polling places and all supplies necessary for casting ballots. f) Publish lists of precints, election officers, polling places and hours polls will be open. g) Provide sample ballots to each voter. h) Receive absent voter applications; supply absent voter ballots to applicants; accept absent voter ballots returned; retain custody of absent voter ballots; county absent voter ballots. i) Publish the notice of elections. 6) Pursuant to the provisions of Elections Code section 23306 and 23314, the election shall be consolidated with the statewide election the Board of Supervisors is authorized to canvass the returns of the election, the election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used.
