25 The Traffic Engineering Committee meeting was called to order by Chairman Eriksen at 3:04
26 pm in Conference Room No. 3, Ukiah Civic Center, 300 Seminary Avenue, Ukiah, California.

28 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES— April 11, 2017
29 M/S: Thompson/Kaeser to approve April 11, 2017 minutes.
30 Motion carried by an all AYE voice vote of the members present.

32 3. AUDIENCE COMMENTS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS

35 4. OLD BUSINESS
36 a. Discussion and Possible Action regarding reducing the length of a Yellow
37 Loading Zone for bicycle parking on West Standley Street near North State
38 Street.

40 Chairman Eriksen asked all present at this meeting to read the email from Cynthia
41 Ariosta of Saucy. Ms. Ariosta supports the placement of a bike rack in the loading
42 zone on W. Standley Street but she does not want this bike rack to be part of Saucy's
43 permit nor is she willing to pay for or insure it.

45 Member Kageyama stated the City of San Francisco has a process for businesses
46 requesting bike racks. San Francisco requires someone to take responsibility for
47 sweeping the street within 20 feet of the bike rack since the street sweeper does not
48 have access to this area. Is Ms. Ariosta willing to take on this responsibility?

2 Motion/Second: Davis/Thompson to form a sub-committee which will include
3 Members Davis, Kageyama and Thompson to draft a policy on bike parking in
4 the right-of-way and bring this proposal back to the Traffic Engineering
5 Committee's next meeting. The decision on the West Standley Street bike
6 parking proposal will be deferred until the committee has time to review the
7 bike policy.

16 7. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
17 Citizen Mulheren asked to have traffic flow and pedestrian safety near Pomolita Middle
18 School put on agenda for next meeting. This includes the intersections of Walnut and Bush,
19 Grove and Bush, and Grove and Dora.

21 Member Davis extended a thank you to Ben Kageyama and the City for their support and
22 work on the Urban Greening Grant to extend the Rail Trail 1/3 mile to the north.
