RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR OF THE " i STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO REINSTATE THE FUNDS 3Y REQUESTED IN THE 1983-1984 BUDGET FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A PERMANENT CAMPUS FOR MENDOCINO-LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICTI 4 I i � WHEREAS, Mendocino-Lake Community College District was formed in 6 ;1 September 1972 by vote of the citizens of the Anderson Valley, Round Valley, Ukiah and Willits Unified School Districts; and i 811 WHEREAS, Mendocino-Lake Community College District was expanded in i � i November 1974 by vote of the citizens of Lake County districts of Upper 10 � Lake, Kelseyville and Lakeport; and 11 WHEREAS, Mendocino-Lake Community College District encompasses 3,200 12 � square miles of service area; and 13I WHEREAS, Mendocino College is fully accredited by the Accrediting 14 Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association 15I of Schools and Colleges; and 16 WHEREAS, Mendocino College is approved by the California State 17 Department of Education, the United States Veterans' Administration and 18 the United States Immigration Service; and 19 WHEREAS, Mendocino College is the only established post-secondary 20 educational institution in Mendocino County and upper Lake County to 21 serve their citizens; and 22 WHEREAS, Mendocino-Lake Community College District is one of two 23 community college districts in the State of California without a 24 permanent campus; and 25 WHEREAS, denial of State construction funds will impact on an 26 already highly economically depressed area; and 27 WHEREAS, construction of a permanent campus will provide for the 28 development of educational and training g programs needed to encourage and �I I I I 1 Ya; stimulate economic development: 2 '' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Members of the Ukiah 3 City Council do hereby respectfully request George Duekmejian, Governor ,I I 4 of the State of California, to provide top priority to the development of i a permanent campus for Mendocino College and be it further resolved that 6the Ukiah City Council respectfully request the Governor to reinstate the G X11 funds requested in the 1983-1984 state budget for said construction. �i i 8j PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of August 1983 by the I i following roll call vote: �I 10li AYES: Councilmembers Feibusch, Dickens, Hickey, Myers, Kelley 11 NOES: None I 12 ?
