HomeMy WebLinkAbout85-71 1 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION 85-71 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NATIONAL VETERANS' CEMETERY IN THE REDWOOD NATIONAL PARK WHEREAS, veterans of the military services of the United States of American should be honored and recognized for the service which they rendered to their country, and WHEREAS, the Veterans' National Cemeteries in the Northern California are near capacity, and WHEREAS, THE City Council of the City of Ukiah is aware of the shortage of appropriate national burial spots for our honored was and service veter- ans,and WHEREAS, a new national cemetery in California for veterans is urgently needed and the best site for this facility would be at School House Peak in the Redwood National Park. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Ukiah supports the efforts to establish a 1,500 acre National Cemetery in Redwood National Park at an area known as School House Peak, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Ukiah requests that our State and national representatives take such action as might be necessary to create and establish such a National Cemetery. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of May, 1985, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmembers Henderson, Kier, Hickey, Kelley, and Mayor Myers NOES: None ABSENT: ABSTAIN: ATTEST:
