HomeMy WebLinkAbout91-14RESOLUTION NO. 91-14 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH CONTINUING APPLICATION OF RALPH M. BROWN ACT DESPITE 1990 BUDGET ACT EXEMPTION. WHEREAS: 1. As a budget balancing measure the state legislature has absolved local governments of specified obligations constituting state mandated local costs for which local jurisdictions might claim reimbursement from the state; 2. Among these specified exemptions are provisions of the Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code Sections 56000 et seq.) also known as the "Open Meeting Law," which require posting agendas 72 hours prior to regular City Council meetings, public comment periods during regular City Council meetings and City Attorney opinions on the availability of closed sessions under the pending litigation exception to open meeting requirements; 3. The City Council of the City of Ukiah affirms its com- mitment to conducting the public's business in an open and public manner; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that: The City Council and the City's Boards and Commissions shall continue to follow all of the provisions of the Ralph M. Brown Act, including those provisions for which the state legislature has provided an exemption in the 1990 Budget Act.
