HomeMy WebLinkAbout94-36 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 94-36 RE~OLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH ESTABLISHING A PREFERENTIAL PARKING SPACE FOR THE DISABLED ON SCHOOL STREET ABUTTING THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE WHEREAS, a request was made by a resident of Mendocino County for a designated disabled on-street parking space contiguous to the County Courthouse, and in the proximity of the building's access for the disabled; and WHEREAS, the Traffic Engineering Committee of the City of Ukiah reviewed this matter and determined that circumstances justify the establishment of a preferential on-street parking space for the disabled along the east side of School Street between Perkins Street and Standley Street; and WHEREAS, the requested disabled parking space is intended for the use of disabled patrons of the Courthouse facilities; and WHEREAS, the City acknowledges the granting of reserved parking to County along the east side of School Street between Perkins Street and Standley Street pursuant to the "Agreement between the Ukiah Development Agency, the City of Ukiah and the County of Mendocino", executed on December 29, 1989; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that the establishment of a designated parking space for use by disabled patrons of the County facilities within the reserved County parking areas is within the spirit of the Agreement; and WHEREAS, Section 22511.7 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California authorizes a local agency, by ordinance or resolution, to designated on-street parking spaces for the exclusive use of a vehicle displaying a distinguishing license plate or placard which has been issued to a disabled person. /// 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 ., 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Ukiah City Council that one )referential, on-street parking space for the use of the disabled be established along the east side of School Street between Perkins Street and Standley Street and that appropriate signs and markings be erected and placed.
