HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-16 CC Reso - Removal of No Parking Zone - Mason & Establishing Bus Loading - Clarar RESOLUTION NO. 2015-16 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH REMOVING AN EXISTING NO PARKING ZONE / BUS LOADING ZONE ON MASON STREET NEAR CLARA AVENUE AND REMOVING 40 LINEAL FEET OF ON-STREET PARKING AND ESTABLISHING A BUS LOADING ZONE AT 200 CLARA AVENUE WHEREAS, the City Council may by resolution designate portions of streets upon which the standing, parking, or stopping of vehicles is prohibited or restricted pursuant to Article 11, Chapter 1, Division 8 of the Ukiah City Code; and WHEREAS,the provisions of Sections 21458 and 22500 of the California Vehicle Code permit the stopping of buses in a red zone marked or posted as a bus loading zone; and WHEREAS,the Traffic Engineering Committee(Traffic Engineer)considered the request to remove the no parking zone / bus loading zone on the west side of Mason Street adjacent to 195 Clara Avenue at its meeting on April 14, 2015; and WHEREAS,the Traffic Engineer considered the request to establish a no parking zone at 200 Clara Avenue,- and WHEREAS,the Traffic Engineer recommends the request to remove the existing no parking zone/ bus loading zone on Mason Street near Clara Avenue and to establish a no parking zone / bus loading zone at 200 Clara Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Ukiah does remove the no parking zone / bus loading zone on Mason Street near Clara Avenue. The City Engineer shall direct the signage and curb painting to be removed as necessary; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the City Council of the City of Ukiah does establish a no parking zone/bus loading zone at 200 Clara Avenue. The City Engineer shall direct installation of signage and curb painting as necessary; PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of May 2015, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mulheren, Doble, Brown, Scalmanini, and Mayor Crane NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None Douglas .
