Catch basins are designed with an automatic
shut-off valve to close if a spill should occur.
Tanks are secured in place with anchoring straps
(tie downs) to prevent possible buoyancy factors
and resist buckling under hydrostatic pressure.
The tanks are to be backfilled with free flow media
and piping is flexible to protect the system during
a seismic event.
The piping control units, submersible
pump variable speed controllers, and
monitoring system console are housed
inside the controller enclosure.
Catch basins discharge through sand/oil
separators with rubberizer oil sorbent
pillows to prevent discharge of
containments to the wetlands.
Note:
Costco provides a trained attendent to
supervise the facility during all hours of
operation.
Costco has defined emergency response
procedures and trained emergency response
personnel monitoring the facility.
Grading has been designed so that storm water
flows to the north away from the wetlands and
designed in accordance with the State of
California Best Management Practices.
Fuel Facility Designed With Multiple
Safety Containment Features
All product piping slopes to the sumps at the
underground storage tanks. If a leak occurs,
gasoline will flow through the interstitial
space back to the sump and an alarm will
sound.
The fueling facility is designed to meet or exceed
requirements adopted by:

The Environmental Protection Agency
The National Fire Protection Agency
The California Air Resources Board
The Local Certified Unified Program Agency
