RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF UKIAH CITY COUNCIL IN SUPPORT OF DESIGNATING
THE BROADBAND ALLIANCE OF MENDOCINO COUNTY (BAMC) AS THE COUNTY'S
ENDORSEMENT AGENT FOR GRANT REQUESTS ON BEHALF OF THE COUNTY OF
MENDOCINO SEEKING TO DEPLOY BROADBAND IN MENDOCINO COUNTY
WHEREAS, the mission of the Broadband Alliance of Mendocino County (BAMC) is to ensure
that the county's population has affordable universal broadband access in their homes,
businesses and transportation to support economic viability, ensure health and safety, and
access educational opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the Broadband Alliance of Mendocino County (BAMC) is a model of innovation and
regional collaboration, showcasing community engagement, volunteerism, and advocacy in their
efforts to better the lives of those living in rural communities through expansion of broadband
infrastructure and utilization of broadband technology; and
WHEREAS, the City Council supports the County's efforts in working with the Broadband
Alliance of Mendocino County to support universal right to service so that every person in
Mendocino County has affordable broadband access in their homes and businesses; and to
pursue opportunities to bring broadband access to unserved and underserved areas of
Mendocino County through collaborative projects, legislative advocacy, and promotion; and
WHEREAS, the City Council strongly supports the County's endorsement of the Broadband
Alliance of Mendocino County to lead Mendocino County's effort to eliminate unserved and
,, i underserved areas of the County, and to improve acceptance of broadband technology
throughout the County; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Ukiah supports the
authorization by the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors to the Broadband Alliance of
Mendocino County(BAMC)to act as the County's endorsement agent for grant requests on
behalf of the County of Mendocino seeking to deploy broadband in Mendocino County.
