UWMP Background
Urban Water Management Planning Act (UWMPA)
In 1983, State Assembly Bill 797 modified the California Water Code Division 6, by creating the UWMPA.
Several amendments to the original UWMPA have increased data requirements and planning elements to be included in the 2005 and 2010 plans.

2010 Urban Water Management Plan
Required by California Water Code
Must be updated every 5 years
Must Satisfy the requirements of the Urban Water Management Planning Act and recent amendments.
Water Conservation Bill of 2009 (SBx7-7)
Applies to utilities that supply 3,000 acre-feet or 3,000 connections
Purpose
Update DWR on local existing and planned water supplies (quantity and quality impacts)
Maintain efficient use of urban water supplies
Continue to promote conservation programs and policies
Ensure that sufficient water supplies are available for future beneficial use
Provide a mechanism for response during water drought conditions
