Mayor Benj Thomas, Vice Mayor Mari Rodin, Council Members Philip Baldwin, Doug Crane, Mary Anne
Landis, and City Manager Jane Chambers:
Because of the ongoing financial crisis for the City of Ukiah, the City Manager has asked each employee
bargaining unit to consider a salary decrease. The City Manager and I have met with the members of
each of the Public Safety Department's negotiating units and each unit has subsequently voted in favor
of proposing the following modifications to the existing agreements with the City of Ukiah, which were
approved on December 2, 2009 at the Ukiah City Council meeting.
I, too, respectfully request to decrease my salary and to modify the agreement of the Public Safety
Director and the City of Ukiah with the same modifications as each Public Safety Unit has agreed to,
specifically:
Temporary Conditional Amendment to the Public Safety Director's Employment Contract.
1. Temporary Salary Adjustment: Effective the first full pay period in January of 2010, and ending
through the last full pay period that begins in June of 2011, the Public Safety Director agrees to
receive a 5% reduction in base salary.
2. Continuation: The City and the Public Safety Director agree that all conditions of employment
established by City policy, including all conditions affecting wages, hours, and working
conditions that are not specifically addressed in the temporary amendment to the Contract
shall remain in effect, with both the City of Ukiah and the Public Safety Director agreeing to
extend the terms of our current contractual agreement through June 30, 2011.
Chris Dewey, Public Safety Director
Jane Chambers, City Manager
