WORK STUDY SESSION
ROLL CALL
Ukiah City Council met at a Special Meeting/Work Study Session on August 27, 2008,
the notice for which being legally noticed on, August 22, 2008. Mayor Crane called the
meeting to order at 5:37 pm. Roll was taken with the following Councilmembers
present: Thomas, McCowen, Rodin, Baldwin, and Mayor Crane. Councilmembers
absent: None. Staff present: City Manager Chambers, Community Services
Supervisor Merz, Director of Community & General Services Sangiacomo, and Deputy
City Clerk Currie.
2. WORK STUDY SESSION
a. Work Study Session Exploring Potential Funding For The Alex Rorabaugh
Center And Potential Facility Management Of The Alex Rorabaugh Center.

City Manager Chambers introduced the item. Director of Community & General
Services Sangiacomo and Community Services Supervisor Merz presented the
item. Recommended Action: Receive status report and provide direction to
staff.
Councilmember McCowen recused himself from the item due to a potential conflict of
interest at 5:46 pm.
Public Comment opened 6:52 pm. 6:52:43 PM
Public Speaking to the Item not in support: John C. Graff, citizen, and Eric Crane.
Public Speaking to the item in support: Richard Shoemaker, Ukiah Valley
Cultural and Recreation Center; Santiago Simental; Chris Gibson, home owner;
John McCowen, speaking from the public podium; Michael Kisslinger, citizen;
Steve Dunnicliff, County of Mendocino Analyst; and Tim Thornhill.
Councilmember Baldwin left the dais at 7:24 pm.
Public Comment closed 7:47 pm.
Staff will move forward and meet with the other interested agencies, get
proposed agreements, and will report to City Council including timelines and how
gym funding will be obtained.
Councilmember Rodin left the dais at 7:48 pm.
