Ukiah City Council met at a Special Meeting on January 5, 2009, the notice for which
being legally noticed on January 2, 2009. Mayor Baldwin called the meeting to order at
5:30 pm. Roll was taken with the following Councilmembers present: Thomas, Crane,
Rodin, and Mayor Baldwin. Councilmembers absent: None. Staff present: City
Manager Chambers, City Attorney Rapport, and Deputy City Clerk Currie.
Former Councilmember John McCowen officially resigned from the City Council effective
at Noon, January 5, 2009, in a letter of resignation addressed to the City Clerk.

a. Review Applicants and Appoint New Councilmember 5:32:40 PM
Mayor Baldwin presented the item. Recommended action: Review applicants and
appoint a new Councilmember.
Applicants Mary Elizabeth Tracy Belt, Michael Whetzel, Mary Anne Landis, Erika
L. Pierce, Brian D. Kornegay, Jeanne K. Metcalf, and John C. Graff provided a
verbal overview of their qualifications.

Public Speaking to the Item: John Azzaro, Eric Crane, Steve Zuieback, James
Connerton, Jr., Alan Nicholson, Mary Misseldine, Chamise Cubbison, Chris
Gibson; Steve Scalmanini.
Public Comment Closed 6:32 pm
M/S Rodin/Thomas to nominate and appoint Mary Anne Landis to City Council
to fill the seat and complete the term of Councilmember John McCowen. Motion
carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmembers Thomas, Crane,
Rodin, and Mayor Baldwin. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. ABSTAIN: None.
b. Clerk to Conduct Oath of Office
Continued.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:55 pm.
