HomeMy WebLinkAbout718 Commission Residency Requirements'?lil ORDINANCE NO. 718 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE UKIAH CITY CODE (COMMISSION RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS) The City Council of the City of Ukiah does ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. Section 1001 of the Ukiah City Code is amended by replacing the word "citizens" with the word "residents". Section 2. Section 1021 of the Ukiah City Code is amended to read as follows: "Said Commission shall consist of seven members appointed by the Ctiy Council. Five members shall be residents of the City of Ukiah; two members may be appointed at large and may be non-residents of the City of Ukiah." Section 3. Section 1050 of the Ukiah City Code is amended by replacing the word "electors" with the word "residents". Section 4. Section 1101 of the Ukiah City Code is amended by changing the first sentence of said section to read as follows: "Said Commission shall consist of seven members who shall be residents of the City of Ukiah and shall_be_appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council." Section 5. Section 1151 of the Ukiah City Code is amended to read as follows: "Said Commission shall consist of seven members who shall be residents of the City of Ukiah, and who shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of the City Council. Section 6. Section 1202 is added to the Ukiah City Code to read as follows: Section 1202 - Residency: At the time of appointment, unless otherwise indicated, Commission members shall be residents of the City of Ukiah. If Commissioners move outside the corporate limits of the City of Ukiah after appointment, they are allowed to fulfill their term of appointment. They may not however be reappointed even though otherwise qualified. ~~ Section 7. This ordinance shall be published as required by law in a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Ukiah. Section 8. This ordinance shall become effective 30 days after its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of October, 1978, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmembers Hickey, Myers, Simpson, Vice Mayor Snyder NOES: None ABSENT: Mayor Brannon s/Mary E.
